CEGP condemns violent dispersal of PNP against Southern Tagalog Lakbayanis

The College Editors Guild of the Philippines decries the violent dispersal of the Philippine National Police (PNP) against Lakbayanis from Southern Tagalog in front of the United States Embassy on July 21.
The contingents who were part of Lakbayan ng mga Mamamayan ng Timog Katagalugan were about to close their program in front of the Embassy when members of the PNP started to hit them with police shields and truncheons. The policemen also bombarded the Lakbayanis with water cannon.
Among the 13 injured is the Laguna coordinator of the Guild.
CEGP condemns the brazen and inhumane conduct displayed by the PNP against the Southern Tagalog Lakbayanis. The Duterte regime’s state forces have continuously answered the people’s mobilization for their democratic rights with an intensified brute force and violence.
The Guild is calling on the Filipino people to join the United People’s State of the Nation Address on July 23 to resist and fight Duterte’s tyrannical and murderous regime.
