CEGP condemns bloody dispersal of the NutriAsia workers
The College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) vehemently condemns the bloody dispersal of the NutriAsia workers picket line by the hired forces of NutriAsia security personnel and members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Almost three months since the picket line has been established, workers have been calling for regularization, safe and convenient workplace and just wages. Spearheaded by the Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng NutriAsia (NMN), the rank of workers, along with the youth, students and manifold sectors has remained steadfast for the calls to be granted. Despite the blatant image of gory and repressive repel of NutriAsia to the their workers, the condiment firm has remained cruel in aiming to completely vitiate the picket line and protect their image from exposure to the public.
Earlier today, after a peaceful mass at around 3 PM, the police forces have violently dispersed the NMN picket line which resulted to injuries and severe wounds by the components of the line, including an old woman in serious condition after being beaten on the head. Nineteen were illegally arrested by PNP-Meycauan, Bulacan including media men from UP Diliman Scientia and Altermidya.
CEGP strongly condemns the continuing barbaric treatment towards NutriAsia workers which has put them into an eventual critical danger. The direct neglect of the NutriAsia has evidently become an uproarious account of how inutile and profit-oriented the firm is regardless the compromised faction of workers.
In this repressive times perpetuated by prominent dominance of capitalism and state sponsored truculent mechanisms, CEGP stands with the abused rank of workers in the grant of their calls.
