The College Editors Guild of the Philippines condemns the merciless killing of Madonna Joy Ednaco Tanyag, assistant special prosecutor at the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City.

Tanyag was killed on Monday, June 4 while walking on a sidewalk in Barangay Vasra. She was carrying a five-month-old baby in her womb. Tanyag served as a writer of the Manila Collegian, the official student publication of University of the Philippines — Manila, a member publication of the Guild.

Her pending cases include the Malampaya fund scam and the Binay graft and corruption case.

The Guild together with its member publications extends our condolences to the family, relatives and friend of Tanyag. The College Editors Guild of the Philippines will continue its militant reportage on the plight of the Filipino people, especially under the rampant killings and state fascism under the US-Duterte regime.
